KENTUCKY FOOTBALL NOTES – 8/6/08

Rich Brooks talks a bit more about the dismissal of Curtis Pulley.  “I kind of like to think that we’re in the business of taking young men and building them into responsible young men, and obviously I feel like I’ve failed in this situation.  But sometimes for the better good of the whole, some parts have to be sacrificed.”

The dismissal of Pulley ends a disappointing stay in Lexington for the once highly sought-after recruit.

John Clay of The Lexington Herald-Leader says “Bravo, Brooks.”  Literally, it’s right in his column.  He feels Brooks gave Pulley a chance, a second chance, and then he held him accountable for his actions.

Eric Crawford of The Louisville Courier-Journal writes that Mike Hartline has earned the starting quarterback job, he hasn’t backed into it.

This notebook column includes some talk of which UK tailback is the fastest as well as the latest on the cornerback hole left by Paul Warford’s academic ineligibility.

Finally, Seth Emerson of The State previews Kentucky’s 2008 season.
