MSU FOOTBALL NOTES – 8/22/08

According to this notes column, as game week approaches the Bulldogs are getting healthier… and Sylvester Croom is ready to see some excitement from his players.
Croom was pleased with his defense after yesterday’s two-hour practice. “It was very good to see the defense finish plays. They were getting closer to game speed today than the offense was. There was a different speed on defense today. Now the offense has got to step it up.”
For all the talk of “opening up the offense” in 2008, here’s what quarterback Wesley Carroll (photo at left) says of the Bulldogs’ attack:
“Coach says it’s sort of an old school offense, even though it’s the West Coast. It’s just managing the game for the first 3 1/2 quarters and then winning it at the end.”
Eric Richards looks to have won the kickoff job for MSU, and he’ll working as the back-up punter and place-kicker, too.
