ESPN’S LOW BREAKS DOWN THE SEC IN WEEK TWO

Week Two has come and gone, and Chris Low gives his take on the past weekend’s action.  He also hands out the hardware and superlatives for the hot (and not) performers.

Mr. Low thinks these guys deserve helmet stickers:

Georgia tailback Knowshon Moreno
Alabama’s special teams
Vanderbilt head coach Bobby Johnson (but he doesn’t wear a helmet)
Arkansas tight end D.J. Williams

These are his top story lines to emerge from the weekend:

Knowshon Moreno is getting the Heisman hype generally reserved for Tim Tebow.

Chris Todd had a nice debut as the starting quarterback for Auburn.

Tim Tebow is still going to plow through defenders, no matter how concerned the Gators are with keeping him healthy.

Special teams again played a factor in the outcomes in Week Two.

Teams won’t be able to use Ole Miss as a mid-season scrimmage this year.

Mr. Low’s SEC Power Rankings look slightly different after the weekend:

1.    Georgia
2.    Florida
3.    LSU
4.    Auburn
5.    Alabama
6.    Vanderbilt
7.    Kentucky
8.    Ole Miss
9.    Tennessee
10.    South Carolina
11.    Mississippi State
12.    Arkansas

Who’s Hot and Who’s Not after Week Two:

On Fire: Knowshon Moreno

Hot: Vanderbilt linebacker Patrick Benoist

Not: Florida running backs

Hot: Arkansas quarterback Casey Dick (not a misprint)

Not: Kellie Pickler and her marathon rendition of the National Anthem
prior to the South Carolina-Vanderbilt game

Hot: South Carolina tight end Jared Cook

Not: Alabama’s offense

Cold as Ice: Urban Meyer leaving his starters in to stick it to opposing teams when the game is already decided.

Finally, Auburn’s offense has gotten all the pub to this point, but as usual, the defense has been the backbone of the team.
