Family Affair Continues In Knoxville

It’s a good thing Tennessee has found a workaround for that pesky nepotism rule in their athletic deparment.

Check out the hires made so far by Lane Kiffin:

Defensive coordinator – father Monte Kiffin (from the Buccaneers)

Quarterbacks coach – David Reaves (from South Carolina… where his name is “mud”)

Probable offensive line coach – James Cregg (not a relative, but his departure mid-season from the Raiders has left head coach Tom Cable “pissed.”)

And it turns out Kiffin’s raid on the Raiders led to the departure of two more staffers – Mark Jackson (Oakland’s director of football operations) and one Steve Reaves (an administrative aide with Oakland).  No word on what these two will be doing at UT, if they do wind up at UT (as most suspect.)

Steve Reaves… Steve Reaves… ah, yes… he’s David’s brother and that makes him another brother-in-law to the Vols’ head coach.  Steve was fired by Cable when Cregg left.

The Reaves are sons to former Florida quarterback John Reaves and brothers to Lane’s wife, Layla… who has become an internet favorite since she was spotted at her husband’s introductory press conference.

So that’s a dad and two brothers-in-law and there’s still some talk (though it’s dying down) that Kiffin might also bring in his own brother, Chris, from Nebraska.

Add the expected hiring of Ed Orgeron (a former Kiffin co-worker at USC) and you’ve got quite the family affair in K-town.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

And, yes, it was hard not to reference “We could take in an old Steve Reeves movie” from “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” in this post.  Whoops.  Just did.

Yes, I agree you will see the results in 3 years. You will see he had NO businesss getting the job based on qualifications. Some people forget he was the SECOND choice of even AL DAVIS for the Raider job from USC. Kiffen ONLY got that JOB because the REAL OFF Coordinator, who is now the UW head coach, turned it down.

Good LUCK with that ONE

Azreal it may be a bad hire to you but we will see the results in 3 yrs. He is bringing in his dog to be with Ole Smokey too.

Tennessee bought a bad product.
