Several bits of football news and a little bit of basketball news coming out of Georgia today… and here it is with football taking precedence:
Assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner has spoken to Auburn about their head coaching position. “Auburn University, my alma mater, contacted me recently about its open head coaching position,” Garner said. “Based on my respect for the Auburn program, we had a conversation about that opportunity.”
AJ Green was one of eight All-SEC Bulldogs, but he got hosed on Freshman of the Year honors.
Mark Richt was the only SEC coach to not have Florida and Oklahoma one-two on his Coaches Poll ballot. Instead, he had Florida and Alabama at the top.
And on the basketball front: Georgia’s players are concerned about their 5-3 record and their late-game collapse against Illinois on Saturday. The Bulldogs lost 76-42 to the Illini and were outscored 22-0 to close the game.
