Back To Pahokee Goes UT Assistant

There must be some thawing going on down in Pahokee, Florida today.

Tennessee assistant Eddie Gran — who was barred from Pahokee High on May 4th — is expected to attend today’s practice… with the town’s vice mayor in tow.

Lane Kiffin apologized to the school’s football coach for negative comments he made about the school and town in February.  But Kiffin never apologized to the school’s principal who demanded a public “sorry ’bout that.”

He hasn’t gotten the public apology yet, but something’s changed if Gran is being escorted back to the school.

Tennessee has already offered a scholarship to at least five Pahokee players.  They landed receiver Nu’Keese Richardson from the school on national signing day.

It was his signing that led to Kiffin’s remarks about Pahokee and his claim that Urban Meyer had cheated by calling Richardson during his official visit to Tennessee (which isn’t, you know, really cheating).

Before all of this I had never even heard of Pahokee. If anything, the town/city/village of Pahokee probably owes Kiffin his own day. They can hold it at the gallows in the middle of town square, all the other villagers and towns folk can drive their horse and buggies there. During the festivities they can partake in pie-tin throwing contests, barefooted races, and even the great UT tradition of "Kiss your Sister". "As the Mayor of the great province of Pahokee, I declare this 19th day of May, Sir Lane of Knoxvillion Day"!

What a great recruiting pitch, "Hey, I think all of you are stuck in the middle ages idiots, poor people who can't be trusted, and don't have enough money to put shoes on your feet or a shirt on your back" Man Coach, your right, could I come play in Tennesse where no one wears shoes, overalls are the norm, and the entire state population has 200 teeth combined... Gee, where do I sign up?
