Days Of Over-signing Could Be Gone Soon

Ole Miss signed 37 prospects in 2009 and Arkansas signed 32, which caught the attention of SEC commissioner Mike Slive.

Schools are allowed to sign as many players as they want, but they can only bring 25 players into school in any given class.

The SEC is considering a proposed legislation that would only allow a school to sign 28 players. Slive expressed his concerns Tuesday in Destin, Fla., during the league’s spring meetings.

“Last year, I was really concerned about it when we had one or two that signed a lot of kids,” Slive said, referring to Ole Miss and Arkansas. ”That was a catalyst for these discussions.”
