Morning Wrap And Big Stories – 7/24/09 – Part One

Eight down and four to go.  And the big question at SEC Media Days remains: Who didn’t vote for Tim Tebow?

One, I’m sick of that question.  Two, I stand by my guess that no one will own up to it… or it will turn out to be Les Miles.  We’ll find out soon enough.

Before we get into today’s coverage, here’s a full wrap from yesterday:

Tim Tebow has a $2 million insurance policy protecting him against serious injury.

Professional smartass Clay Travis asked Tebow yesterday if he was saving himself for marriage.  Tebow handled it perfectly and admitted that indeed he was.  But the issue here is this: A college quarterback’s sex life is nobody’s damn business… and Mr. Travis should grow up.  Oh, and he should also be turned down for an SEC media credential next year.  There’s a line between funny and classless.  Mr. Travis crossed it.

Here’s the blurb that Mr. Travis wrote after trying to embarrass a young man in front of hundreds of reporters (well, the whole nation, actually).

Chris Low of ESPN.com writes that Lane Kiffin thinks he might have been scheduled last for a reason.  (Only Houston Nutt has gotten a pair of tough questions from the media, but I’m guessing Kiffin gets several.)

Alabama’s Rolando McClain is focused on the two Alabama lost last year, not the 12 they won.

A few leftover notes from Mr. Low.

Kiffin says UT’s secondary violations were not committed on purpose.

This after Kiffin had lunch with commissioner Mike Slive last week “to get to know him better.”

Florida actually has some question marks this year… namely at receiver.

This writer says Jevan Snead really could be better than Tebow.  At least at next year’s NFL draft he could be.

Freshman Kentucky tight end DeAunte Mason is transferring to Alabama A&M.
