Randall Cobb — sore back and all — says he’ll be ready for the season opener.
Freshman linebacker Qua Huzzie will be lost for the season due to shoulder surgery.
Kentucky is one of only eight teams in the country to have won bowl games in each of the last three seasons. (But in fairness, reaching a bowl isn’t as hard as it used to be.)
On the basketball front, I wrote and posted a semi-defense of John Calipari this morning on the site. Geoff Calkins of The Memphis Commercial-Appeal must believe I wasted my time, because in his view, there is no defense of Calipari.
This writer believe Calipari’s reputation has taken yet another hit.
Ditto this writer who says, “Until further notice, it might be best to hang any Final Four banners earned by Calipari’s teams with Velcro.”
Kentucky released their basketball schedule yesterday and it includes games against Louisville, Indiana, North Carolina and UConn.
UK will appear on ESPN network or CBS a whopping 18 times.
Coach Cal jokingly predicted a 40-0 record with no margin of victory smaller than 25 points.
