Just because the University of Florida admitted Israeli point guard Nimrod Tishman last week, it’s still too early to count on him suiting up for Billy Donovan’s squad this winter.

First, he must still get through the NCAA clearinghouse and — as usual — your guess is as good as mine as to what those folks will decide.

Currently, Florida is desperate for a point guard with only might-mite Erving Walker holding down the position.  Enter Tishman, whose game has been compared to that of Nick Calathes… though that comparison seems so unbelievably convenient that I choose not to believe it.

Regardless, I want Tishman to be declared eligible.

Not because he’ll impact the Gator team one way or the other, but because his name is Nimrod Tishman.

And any day that I get to type the name “Nimrod Tishman” is a good day.

So come on, NCAA, give us our Nimrod.
