Notes from Nick Saban’s teleconference:

* “This is a state championship game in the state of Alabama.”  Auburn is one of the best offensive teams Bama “has faced all year long.”

* Asked if Mark Ingram is the best player in the country, Saban said Ingram has been great in Alabama’s system and has done everything the coaches have asked him to do.  “I think he’s a great example for all players.”

* Saban said he’s not involved in Ingram’s Heisman Trophy campaign at all.

* Saban is happy that the Iron Bowl is on CBS and he likes the exposure, but he wouldn’t say whether or not he liked playing on a Friday rather than on a Saturday.

* Asked about his agent, Jimmy Sexton, Saban said, “The biggest thing you know is the personal relationship Jimmy has with the people he represents.  I just always felt that the guy legitimately cares about his clients.”

* Saban said Ryan Mallett is a fantastic player.  Alabama tried to disguise their coverages and force him to move around in the pocket.

* Saban said the recruiting process has sped up.  “I don’t think that makes recruiting any easier.”  Getting a guy’s commitment sometimes makes a team “the target” for other schools to focus on.

* Saban isn’t planning to have a guest speaker talk to his team before the Iron Bowl.

* Saban says he has the last word for players before they hit the field.
