If The SEC Tournament Began Today…

Wondering where your team stands as SEC schools jockey for SEC tournament positions?  Below is how the league tourney field would look if the season ended today.

Obviously, with two games remaining for each team, this will change by next Sunday.  But just for the sake of argument…

W5 vs E4:  Alabama (14-14, 4-10)  vs  Florida (20-9, 9-5)
Winner vs W1:  Mississippi State (21-8, 9-5)

E6 vs W3:  South Carolina (14-14, 5-9)  vs  Ole Miss (19-9, 7-7)
Winner vs E2:  Vanderbilt (22-6, 11-3)

E5 vs W4:  Georgia (13-14, 5-9)  vs  Auburn (14-15, 5-9)
Winner vs E1:  Kentucky (27-2, 12-2)

W6 vs E3:  LSU (10-18, 1-13)  vs  Tennessee (21-7, 9-5)
Winner vs W2:  Arkansas (14-15, 7-7)

For a two team tie, the league’s tiebreakers are as follows:

1.  Head-to-head record

2.  Division record

3.  Record versus #1 team in division and then proceeding through team #6 if necessary

4.  Non-division record

5.  Record versus #1 team in opposite division and then proceeding
through team #6 if necessary

6.  Coin flip

In the example above…

* Arkansas would get the West’s #2 seed because the Razorbacks are 1-0 against Ole Miss (with one head-to-head game to play.

* Tennessee would get the East’s #3 seed because it has a better divisional record than Florida.

* Georgia would get the East’s #5 seed because it has a better divisional record than South Carolina.
