If The SEC Tournament Started Today

With one mid-week game remaining (LSU at Ole Miss tonight), the SEC regular season is down to seven games total.

Heading into tonight’s action (and this weekend’s), here’s the way the SEC Tournament would shake out if it started today:

W5 vs E4:  Alabama (15-14, 5-10)  vs  Florida (20-10, 9-6)
Winner vs W1:  Mississippi State (21-9, 9-6)

E6 vs W3:  South Carolina (14-15, 5-10)  vs  Arkansas (14-16, 7-8)
Winner vs E2:  Vanderbilt (23-6, 12-3)

E5 vs W4:  Georgia (13-15, 5-10)  vs  Auburn (15-15, 6-9)
Winner vs E1:  Kentucky (28-2, 13-2)

W6 vs E3:  LSU (10-18, 1-13)  vs  Tennessee (22-7, 10-5)
Winner vs W2:  Ole Miss (19-9, 7-7)

Tiebreakers:

* Ole Miss would earn the West #2 seed over Arkansas because they currently have a better record (by a half-game).  This one gets a little tricky.  If the Rebels win tonight and beat the Hogs on Saturday, they will keep the #2 seed.  If they lose tonight and beat Arkansas on Saturday, they will keep the #2 seed.  If the Rebels lose tonight and lose on Saturday, Arkansas will grab the #2 seed.  If the Rebels win tonight and lose on Saturday, Arkansas will earn the #2 seed based on their sweep of UM.

* Georgia would earn the East #5 seed over South Carolina because it currently has more division wins (4 to 3).  If Carolina upsets Vandy on Saturday, Carolina would move past Georgia into 5th place — regardless of what Georgia does — based on the Cocks’ win over Kentucky.
