Pensacola Lineman Chooses Florida; Other Florida Notes

Florida received a commitment from defensive back Louchiez Purifoy from Pine Forest High School in Pensacola, Fla.
Purifoy considered offers from Alabama and Auburn, but the Gators had a clear edge. Purifoy pulled the trigger on his commitment after Florida’s Friday Night Lights camp.
“I was always a Florida fan growing up so it wasn’t really an issue,” Purifoy told ESPN.com. “This is where I want to be.”
Florida hopes to receive the same decision from defensive back Nick Waisome from South Lake High School in Groveland, Fla. He’ll likely make his decision sometime next month.
“We’re trying to do this with ESPNU, which is probably why I haven’t made a decision already,” Waisome told ESPN.com.
Waisome is also considering Florida State, Georgia, LSU and South Carolina.
“I’ve had an idea of where I want to go for a while but I want to talk with my parents and there were a couple of things I needed to see,” he said.
Florida strengthened its offensive line before the weekend began with a commitment from Trip Thurman from Dover (Dela.) High School. He gave his pledge before the Friday Night Lights camp began.
“I knew that Florida was where I wanted to be, so I made my decision,” Thurman told the Gainesville Sun.
Thurman chose Florida over South Carolina and Boston College.
