SEC Headlines – 7/26/10 Part Two

1.  This writer suggests that the SEC is too big for its britches when it comes to media accessibility.

2.  In case you missed this one over the weekend, Florida center Kenny Kadji is transferring… making him — I believe — the 1,000th player to leave UF early under Billy Donovan’s watch.

3.  Georgia has to post its opening for a new athletic director and it’s now done so on the NCAA’s official website.  Want to apply?

4.  Football practice at UGA kicks off one week from today.  (And you realize we’re less than five months from Christmas, too, right?  Man, time speeds by.)

5.  Jeff Schultz of The AJC ranks the SEC’s football programs heading into 2010.

6.  There appear to be no simple solutions to the problem of player-agent interactions.

7.  ACC commissioner John Swafford says leagues are best with 12 teams in them… but that doesn’t mean there won’t be 14- or 16-team leagues.

8.  The Bryce Brown saga at Tennessee could end today.

9.  Whoever carries the ball for UT this year will likely get a lot of work.

10.  In the West, Arkansas hopes to ramp up its defense in 2010.

11.  Finally, fans like to see their team’s athletes as superstars.  In fact, they are simply human beings with very human flaws.  This editorial from The Lexington Herald-Leader deals with the suicide of former Kentucky basketball star Melvin Turpin.  It’s a very, very good read.
