Nutt Likes His Quarterbacks, Tempts Fate

Houston Nutt might have lost to Jack Crowe on Saturday, but apparently he’s not ready to take the advice of his vanquisher.

After Jacksonville State’s win, Crowe commented that in his view, Ole Miss needs to get its quarterback situation straightened out.  Nutt, however, sounds like a man who’s willing to keep playing both Jeremiah Masoli and Nathan Stanley… at least for a while.

“I feel good about our quarterback situation.  I feel a lot better now after game.”

So who’s his guy?  “We don’t know yet.  I feel good knowing that I have confidence in putting them both out there.”

If Nutt picks a quarterback and sticks with him, the Jacksonville State loss can be erased and a good season salvaged.  If he takes his time flip-flopping signal-callers, it’s likely to serve as a distraction for his team for weeks to come.

The next move belongs to Nutt, of course, but I think I’d be listening to the guy who just beat me with an FCS squad if I were him.

And he might want to work a bit on that secondary, too.
