UGA: Off Goes Oregon, On Come The Cupcakes

Earlier this week, Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity unveiled his theory on scheduling — Don’t leave your own backyard.  A home-and-home matchup with Oregon was immediately ix-nayed (with the Ducks agreeing due to the Pac-10′s changing schedule).

So with no big-time, intersectional, home-and-home games on the docket, who will the Bulldogs play?

Charleston Southern (2014) and Georgia Southern (2016) have now been announced as future foes.  I can imagine Dawg fans reaching for their wallets to buy tickets to those babies right now.

McGarity comes from the University of Florida and scheduling the Cupcake Southerns of the world has never put a dent in the Gators’ ticket sales or rankings.  And for much of Mark Richt’s successful run, the same was true in Athens.
