UGA RB In Jail This Morning

If Les Miles is the luckiest man in the world, what the heck is Mark Richt?

There’s a line that’s popping up on more and more messageboards these days and it’s a pretty good one: “Mark Richt loves God… but God loves Les Miles.”  Well, Job got some more bad news this morning.

Little more than 24 hours after his team throttled Tennessee in a must-win game for Richt, the coach has yet another player resting comfortably in the Clarke County Jail.  Starting running back Caleb King was booked into the jail this morning for failing to appear in court on a traffic charge.

Small thing, yes, but also a stupid thing.  And not the kind of thing that Richt needs just as the heat of his seat was beginning to drop a degree or two.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, King is being held at the Clarke County Jail until Walton County officials can pick him up this morning.  On June 20th, King was popped for doing 76 in a 55 mph zone in Walton County.

King will be taken from Athens to Monroe, Georgia where he will be able to post bond of “a little more than $300.”

Associate AD Claude Felton said that Richt “is aware of the situation and is continuing to gather information.”

Richt — and other college coaches — make millions of dollars as coaches.  But it’s still has to a pain know that your future hinges on the decision-making of 18- to 22-year-old boys.
