If you’re planning on wagering on the over/under line for Saturday’s Egg Bowl, keep the following in mind:
In 17 of the last 22 Egg Bowl games, the two teams combined for less than 45 points. That’s less than a 24-21 game. Less than a 31-14 game.
Last year was one of the exceptions, however. Dan Mullen won his Egg Bowl debut 41-27 and even took a knee twice deep in Rebel territory to close out the game. Those 41 points were the most scored by MSU in the series since 1917.
But don’t expect 68 points to be scored again this year. At least not if recent history has anything to do with it.
A little sidenote of trivia for you — Ole Miss leads the all-time series 60-40-6, but things have changed since the game moved away from Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson nearly two decades ago. It’s the Bulldogs who hold a 10-9 advantage since the series moved back to a campus rotation.
Don’t Expect A High-Scoring Egg Bowl
