FAYETTEVILLE - Arkansas linebacker Jerry Franklin was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week Monday.
Franklin recorded 20 tackles in the Razorbacks’ 38-31 double overtime win at Mississippi State. That number is tied 10th in school history and the most since Ken Hamlin recorded 22 tackles in 2002.
Franklin is the second Arkansas player to win the award this year. Tramain Thomas also won following a win over Texas A&M.
In addition to Franklin, senior DeMarcus Love was also honored by the SEC, earning SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week. Love is the first Arkansas player to earn that award this season.
