Hunter Stewart of Lexington Christian Academy signed a golf scholarship with Vanderbilt on Wednesday. So did Ben Fogler, the son of former Vanderbilt basketball coach Eddie Fogler.

Stewart, who was Kentucky’s “Mr. Golf” in 2010, was named by the Kentucky High School Coaches Association as their Most Outstanding Senior in 2010. He was also a member of the KHSAA All-State team in 2010.

As a junior, Stewart finished fourth at the 2009 Bubba Conlee, second at the 2009 Kentucky Junior, and third at the 2010 Kentucky State Junior. He also qualified for the 2010 US Open Sectional by placing fourth in the local qualifier.

Stewart was also an Academic All-State first team selection in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.

“Hunter is a terrific young man who has really become a great player in the last year,” Vandy Coach Tom Shaw said in a news release. “He dominated the Kentucky golf scene with record scores and also played well nationally, with some great finishes across the South . Off the course, his leadership skills and outstanding character will serve our team well.”
