Offensive lineman Aaron Douglas from Arizona Western Community College in Yuma, Ariz., has signed a national letter of intent with Alabama.
Douglas, who will begin classes at Alabama in January, will have a chance to start right away on Alabama’s offensive line.
Douglas began his career at Tennessee when he signed with the Vols out of Maryville (Tenn.) High School in 2008. He started at right tackle for UT as a redshirt freshman in 2009.
Douglas decided to transfer from UT after Lane Kiffin left for Southern Cal in January. UT coach Derek Dooley wouldn’t release Douglas from his scholarship if he chose a school within eight hours of his home. That’s why Douglas chose Arizona Western. He was free to sign with any school he wanted after he attended a junior college.
Douglas isn’t the only prospect from Arizona Western expected to help Alabama right away. The Crimson Tide has a commitment from defensive tackle Jesse Williams, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 1 junior college prospect by Rivals.com.
