‘Tis the season for football coaches to change jobs and a number of SEC staffs have already been affected. Knowing that more moves are on the way once the bowls are out of the way, we thought we’d provide you with an as-of-now breakdown of who has moved on and who has moved in when it comes to SEC football.
ALABAMA
Nick Saban, Head Coach — No strong rumors
Jim McElwain, OC/QBs — Interviewed for HC job at Colorado (but did not get it); Rumored to be a candidate for Texas’ OC position
Burton Burns, RBs — Rumored to have been a candidate for HC at Louisiana-Lafayette (but did not get it)
Curt Cignetti, WRs — Interviewed for HC job at Kent State (but did not get it)
Bo Davis, DL — Rumored to be a candidate for Will Muschamp’s new staff at Florida
Bobby Williams, TE/Special Teams — No strong rumors
Joe Pendry, OL — No strong rumors
Kirby Smart, DC/LBs — Rumored to be a candidate for the DC position on Muschamp’s new staff at Florida
Sal Sunseri, LBs — Pursued the Pittsburgh HC job (but did not get it)
Jeremy Pruitt, DBs — No strong rumors
ARKANSAS
Bobby Petrino, Head Coach — Recently signed a seven-year extension with hefty buyouts on both sides
(Sidenote — Petrino has said that he wants to keep his entire staff together and all UA assistants are now believed to be up for raises.)
Kris Cinkovich, WRs — No strong rumors
Willy Robinson, DC/Safeties — No strong rumors
Bobby Allen, DTs — No strong rumors
Steve Caldwell, DEs — No strong rumors
Tim Horton, RBs — No strong rumors
Reggie Johnson, ILBs — No strong rumors
Garrick McGee, OC/QBs — No strong rumors
Chris Klenakis, OL — No strong rumors
John L. Smith, OLBs/Special Teams — No strong rumors
AUBURN
Gene Chizik, Head Coach — No strong rumors (should be up for a hefty raise after the season)
Jay Boulware, TEs/Special Teams — No strong rumors
Jeff Grimes, OL – No strong rumors
Phillip Lolley, CBs — No strong rumors
Curtis Luper, RBs — No strong rumors
Gus Malzahn, OC/QBs — Is believed to have turned down Vanderbilt HC job and has been mentioned in connection with the HC job at Maryland; Recently received a new contract worth $1.3 million per season
Tracy Rocker, DL — No strong rumors
Ted Roof, DC/LBs — No strong rumors
Trooper Taylor, WRs — No strong rumors
Tommy Thigpen, Safeties — No strong rumors
FLORIDA
Urban Meyer, Head Coach — Resigned earlier this month and has been replaced by Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp; Expected to stay involved with the UF program in some capacity
(Sidenote — Despite numerous rumors, Muschamp has said he will make no hires to his staff until after the Gators’ bowl game. Current assistants are expected to be given courtesy interviews.)
Steve Addazio, OC/OL — Has accepted the HC job at Temple
Teryl Austin, DC/CBs — Rumored to be a top candidate for the DC position at Texas
Zach Azzanni, WRs — No strong rumors of other offers
Stan Drayton, RBs — No strong rumors of other offers
DJ Durkin, LBs/Special Teams — No strong rumors of other offers
Chuck Heater, Co-DC/Safeties — The most likely Meyer assistant to be hired by Muschamp; No strong rumors of other offers
Scot Loeffler, QBs — Rumored to have been a candidate for the Kent State HC job (but did not get it)
Dan McCarney, DL — Has accepted the HC job at North Texas
Brian White, TEs/FBs — No strong rumors of other offers
