According to TigerBait.com — the Rivals site covering LSU — former Tulsa and Louisville head coach Steve Kragthorpe is expected to meet with Les Miles regarding his open offensive coordinator position.
Kragthorpe built his reputation in four seasons as Tulsa’s head coach. But he could not replicate his offensive success at Louisville and was fired after just three seasons. This past year he accepted the position of wide receivers coach for Texas A&M but resigned due to family issues.
Miles is believed to have met with TCU co-offensive coordinator Justin Fuente this past weekend. Blake Anderson, the O-coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Southern Miss is also popped onto the radar over the weekend.
NFL draft guru and Louisiana native Mike Detillier told The Shreveport Times over the weekend that “a coach in the NFL” called him to ask about the job. He added: “I’ve been told this is not going to be a quick hire. This could go on for a few weeks. There is some interest from NFL coaches.”
With top juco prospect Zach Mettenberger landing at LSU it’s no secret that Miles is looking for a top quarterback coach to come in as his coordinator. But it’s believed he wants to find a QB guy who believes in using a run-first system. Can he find someone who fits both desires?
