Looks like Will Friend passed his background check. The former UAB offensive line coach has officially been hired by Georgia to replace outgoing line coach Stacy Searels (who left for Texas last month). Friend spent two years on the UGA staff as a GA in 2003 and 2004.
“I got to see first-hand his work ethic when he was a graduate assistant on our staff,” Mark Richt said. “And since that time he’s developed into a seasoned, top-notch offensive line coach.”
Friend has spent the past four seasons under Neil Callaway at UAB. As The AJC points out, the Blazers ranked 15th nationally in sacks allowed, 30th in total offense, 24th in passing offense and 59th in rushing offense last year.
