Got frustrating?
In our attempt to bring you a simplified overview — we should have known better — of who won the SEC states on signing day, we tried to use one set of player rankings. Unfortunately, depending on where you go on Rivals.com site — and the same goes for Scout.com — you’ll find players listed in a number of different ways. We based our findings off one list, we got a zillion emails from people using another list.
So we’re starting from scratch on this one. We’ll use Rivals’ final list of top prospects from each state. Not their grades and not necessarily their star ratings. Nope, we’ll pay no attention to star ratings or point tallies. Just the rankings. Our apologies for any confusion.
And we start with the state of Alabama…
Looking only at 2011 signees/enrollees — and not players who signed in 2010 but are enrolling now — the state of Alabama produced:
0… 5-stars
8… 4-stars
55… 3-stars
Here’s who mined the state’s Top 25 players for signatures:
10… Auburn
4… Alabama
3… Ole Miss
1… Clemson
1… Florida State
1… Kentucky
1… LSU
1… Nebraska
1… South Florida
1… Southern Miss
1… Still Unsigned (probably going juco)
State Champion: Auburn
The defending BCS champions collected talent from all across the state of Alabama. The Crimson Tide had a great class by going out of state, but Auburn won the homefront yesterday.
