"Wouldn’t it be better if college coaches were a little more selective and less likely to chase recruits who’ve had run-ins with the law during high school?"

Personally I want my coaches going after the best players they can get even if they have had small run ins with the law in the past (I consider small things to be like traffic violations and even MIPs but I recognize that is a personal belief). I would consider it a bigger problem at Arkansas if those same players were getting in more trouble once on campus but that has not been the case at all. If memory serves me correct (and it often does not) I can only think of david gordon (caught with marijuana) ryan mallett (p.i.) anthony oden (dui - potentially just as bad as a violent crime when you think about it) von stumon (dui) and lance ray (weed in dorm room - big deal) getting arrested since Petrino's been on campus. I'm fine with a list that small and have no problems with the kind of studen athlete Petrino and staff are recruiting. They are more than welcome to take a risk on a kid that made a mistake before coming to campus if they can stay out of trouble once on campus and that seems to be the case.

No, the answers to those questions are clearly not self-evident.

We could do without the simplistic nonsense contained in that very flawed report. Dude, there is no larger issue, okay? More than 90 percent of their survey, in which they went looking for negativity, *didn't* fit the profile. What is the issue? At no location on the planet can you find young males where a similar number of incidents wouldn't be culled from a representative sample of young males.
