Georgia coach Mark Richt received a “letter of admonishment” and will be prohibited from speaking by telephone to recruits or families of recruits during the April 2011 evaluation period, according to Seth Emerson of The Macon Telegraph.
The SEC believes Georgia created a gameday simulation — an NCAA no-no — when hotshot recruit Isaiah Crowell visited UGA in January. Richt orchestrated a “missing man” formation in which his offensive unit was on the Dawgs practice field… without a running back.
Crowell wound up signing with the Bulldogs. He has been ruled ineligible, but it’s expected that he will be cleared.
UPDATE – The NCAA has already reinstated Crowell’s eligibility.
