Mississippi State receiver Chad Bumphis put a scare into the Bulldog fanbase yesterday with a series of tweets claiming that he had broken his ankle and would have to undergo surgery today.
Then came a follow-up: “No surgery needed!!”
Brandon Marcello of The Jackson Clarion-Ledger reports that an MSU spokesperson and Bumphis’ mother have further cleared up the situation today.
* Bumphis’ injury occurred in State’s weight room.
* X-rays on the receiver’s ankle this morning were negative. (That’s negative in a good way for all you George Costanzas out there.) The injury is a sprain, not a break.
The junior from Tupelo led State with 634 receiving yards and five touchdowns last season.
