People who want to push Vanderbilt out of the conference believe basketball is not a real sport. If Franklin can make Vanderbilt competitive it could cause some hand ringing in the conference. Can you imagine a Vanderbilt upset that takes an SEC out of the title race. You are right I don't think the anti Vandy crowd wants a Georgia Tech or Florida state keeping there team out of the national championship game every year.

This is one reason why I don't understand the whole boot Vandy arguement. While Vandy may not field the best football team and does not compete with the same resources, Vandy is in the top half of the league in every other sport. The SEC does not need another football team that expects to win championships every year. There are already 6 programs that their goal every year is to win the SEC, and anything short of that is considered a down year. Those programs are UF, UT, UGA, Bama, Auburn and LSU. Then you have SoCar and Ark that are trying to get into that mix. Basically you have 6-8 schools that want the championship each year. If all 8 schools won a championship in a decade, that would leave only two schools with a 2nd title in ten years. Name one of those programs where a coach can coach for 10 years and not win a SEC Championship and keep their job. It did not happen at UT. Look at the heat at LSU and UGA, two successful coaches that are feeling pressure because they did not win last year. So the SEC needs the Vandy's in football in order to keep the big 6-8 happy.

Mike...

In our view, there is no reason for any SEC school to be outdrawn by the likes of Siena. Nor is there a reason for first-place (in the East) Florida to draw fewer fans per game than sixth-place (in the East) South Carolina.

Just our take.

Thanks for reading,
