Just got power back at our house and my prayers are with all the families that have suffered major losses. That said I think the statement that the attendance was up for bama due to the statue of saban being unveiled. Go back and check previous years and you will find that bama always has that type of attendance so it's not entirely accurate to say it was because of statue. Since saban has been at bama the spring game has been very popular and the attendance has been around the same level.
We all know that spring game attendance numbers are guesstimates. And we also know that those guesstimates usually err on the high side… often the very high side.
That said, the numbers are in for the SEC’s 2011 spring games and overall they’re up from a year ago. Below are the tallies turned in by the schools to the SEC office:
| School |
2011 Spring Game Attendance |
| Alabama |
92,310 |
| Auburn |
53,209 |
| Florida |
51,000 |
| Georgia |
43,177 |
| Arkansas |
42,000 |
| Mississippi State |
36,357 |
| Tennessee |
35,891 |
| South Carolina |
29,451 |
| Ole Miss |
28,000 |
| LSU |
25,032 |
| Vanderbilt |
7,500 |
| Kentucky |
4,000 |
Believe those numbers if you will. The only sure thing from this spring was the fact that Bama led the league in attendance easily. And the unveiling of the Nick Saban statue played a big role in that.
