Auburn coach Gene Chizik made it clear at a Tiger booster club yesterday that his staff has already accomplished a major goal… but their future goals aren’t changing.
“We said when we came in two years ago that we really felt confident that we could win a championship. We didn’t put a time limit on it. Two years later, we’ve done what one of our goals was to do.
“It’s great for us to come to these events and see how many people have been affected in a positive way by a national championship. It’s certaionly good to see a lot of Auburn people smile.”
But just because one title has been won and the vast majority of starters from that championship team are gone, Chizik isn’t backing away from title talk.
“Our goal is championships, period. It doesn’t matter if we play with 22 freshmen. The goals have not changed. The expectation and stand has not changed. Anything less than a championship is not good enough.”
