DeAndre Liggins is working to change people’s perceptions at an NBA combine in Chicago this week. The ex-Kentucky Wildcat who is entering the draft as a junior is viewed by many as a second-round pick who’ll likely be a defensive specialist in the league… if he makes a roster.
“Some teams said I needed to go back (to UK) to improve my offense,” Liggins told The Lexington Herald-Leader. “I thought, how could I do that when we’ve got this bigger class (of top recruits) coming in. They’ll want to start.”
“I think my offense got better at Kentucky during the year,” he continued. “I didn’t have the ball a lot.” He also believes he could’ve shown more offense if John Calipari had asked that of him.
“But we had other guys more highly recruited. They had more hype than me. Coach Cal would rather live with their mistakes than my mistakes. I’m just glad I have the opportunity to show I can do more than I did at Kentucky.”
Hmmm.
