Fellows,

Historically speaking, there have been six SEC schools that have been dominant in football for lengthy periods of time. Tennessee -- which is one of the 10 winningest programs all-time is among that group. Just as Mississippi State doesn't get into the "big six" after one bowl trip, I don't think I'd dump Tennessee from that list due to the last three.

We're talking tradition here and the people above clearly have no grasp of that.

Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee have year-in and year-out had more success than Kentucky, Ole Miss, Miss. State, and Vanderbilt. Arkansas is a newcomer and has not won a championship in the SEC to date. Ditto South Carolina.

Tweak it, spin it, let your fandom muck it up, but the fact of the matter is -- from a historical perspective -- six programs have led the way in the SEC.

They also happen to be the only schools to have ever won an SEC championship game.

Understand pls. Cedrick. ALL TIME Matt has it correctly. Let's not forget the past. Just because a new Imac phone or device comes out every 2 days for todays generation. Doesn't mean what happened more then 5 days ago is now nil and void. Hard to understand this concept with instant gratification @ our fingertips every second of the day. Slow down. Read a book. Spend time with your family possibly and you will grab this crazy concept.

Matt, you silly goose, your middle school math teacher hasn't been doing her job. UT is a now a bottom tier program (clearly 9th out of 12) with a coach with a losing record and is about to be slapped by the NCAA for cheating. Matt, 9th isn't 1st or 2nd. You'll learn that in high school, if you get that far.

Sorry buddy, UT will get a slap on the wrist according to you, because the evidence is not Alabama or Ohio state like. Regarding the Big 6,it will always be UT and Bama at 1 and 2. The success of LSU and Florida is cute. They need to keep doing that for a couple more decades.

I've never heard of the term "big six" applied to SEC football. And it seems TN hasn't been in that group in a number of years now and won't be for at least 4 or 5 more, once we see how badly they're hit by the NCAA. Far above Tennessee I'd put Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miss. State and South Carolina. With Miss. State and South Carolina doing so well in recent years TN is squarely in the middle of the "little six."
