For the past month there has been much speculation that former Wake Forest big man Tony Woods will transfer to Kentucky. Well, John Calipari has landed a transfer, but it’s not the controversial Woods.
Former NC State guard Ryan Harrow will join the Wildcats after sitting out the 2011-12 season. Harrow averaged 9.3 points and 3.3 assists for the Wolfpack last year.
“Ryan has tremendous ball-handling skills and offensive awareness and is a great addition to our team,” Calipari tweeted yesterday. “He’s a great student of the game as well as in the classroom. He’ll have a year to grow in our system and should be ready to be a major contributor in 2012-13.”
It appears that Woods — who carries the baggage of an assault arrest — is likely to land at Texas, not Kentucky.
We can debate which player would have been the better “get” for the Cats, but there’s no argument over which player is less controversial. And that’s the guy Calipari has already landed.
