Defensive end Darius English from McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Ga., has committed to South Carolina.
English chose the Gamecocks over offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, North Carolina and others. He gave his commitment to South Carolina after visiting Columbia on Saturday.
“When I finished the tour and everything, I told coach (G.A.) Mangus that South Carolina is where I want to be,” English told TheBigSpur.com. “He was excited. He said that I was the first defensive end commit for them.”
That’s true. South Carolina has commitments from four other defensive prospects: linebacker T.J. Holloman, defensive tackle Carlos Hood and defensive backs Kyle Fleetwood and Rico McWilliams.
South Carolina has eight commitments for the class of 2012.
