The B12 allowed the schools to keep local rights, just like the SEC does. However Texas the created the Longhorn network. It was originally only supposed to have one non-conference game a year. This would involve some second tier game that only TU fans would want to see like TU/Rice. That was until ESPN bought a conference game from Fox. Now the fans of Baylor, TxTech, ISU would be forced to pay Texas to watch their team play on TV. How do you think that sits with the other AD and alumni. Plus Texas high school football games will be shown on the network. Imagine the recruiting advantage that gives TU that when players watch repeats and other high school games to see advertising for the Longhorns.

The Big East is as unstable as BigXII and would likely still be with the above scenario. Any of those BE 12-14 teams that you talk about would jump to the ACC or the B1G in a heartbeat. The major difference between the two is that there are some teams in the BigXII that seem to have real options. Not so in the Big East.

I think state politics will make it difficult for either Texas or A&M to just leave the other behind (not to mention leaving Texas Tech and Baylor out in the cold).

I will say this: If KSU/Kansas/Mizzou go, that would be a nice addition for the Big East. I just don't see anyone leaving the BXII until they see the Longhorn Network in practice, and this causes in them to completely getting the shaft.

I don't know what's to discuss. They approved the network last year when Texas blackmailed - I mean convinced - everyone to stay in the Big-12. Didn't they know what they were agreeing to?

TAMU is not happy with the B12, and Texas flexing their power again. However I don't think it will be TAMU or Texas that kills the B12. It will be the left over northern schools that make a move to protect themselves along with the conference that needs to protect itself - the Big East. There has been a lot of chatter from the power basketball coaches of a football/BB split happening. The 9 football members break off and add Kansas, KSU and Mizzou to grow to 12/14 teams. If anything showed from last summer, the pickings and future for those schools are slim and bad if the B12 falls apart.
