The commitment from Maye, who’s considered a four-star prospect and the 13th-best safety in the nation by ESPN.com, wasn’t a surprise. The Gators had long been considered the favorite to land Maye.
“I would say Florida has always been in the picture,” he said. “It was pretty much between Florida and Florida State. Florida has been at the top for a while.”
Maye is the 15th prospect to commit to Florida’s class of 2012 and second defensive back to do so in the last week. Rhaheim Ledbetter committed to the Gators last week.
