Safety Collins Visits Alabama

Safety Landon Collins has been one of the nation’s biggest names during the summer recruiting circuit.

ESPN recently named him the nation’s 20th-best prospect overall. That was after an impressive showing at The Opening at Nike World Headquarters where he earned the SPARQ ratings national championship and the 7on tournament most valuable player honors.

That’s why Alabama has made such a strong push for Collins, who recently returned home from a camp in Tuscaloosa.

“It went well,” Collins told 247Sports.com. “I liked everything. The coaches weren’t going to make me do anything and let me sit back and relax if I wanted to, but I worked out a little bit. I did a little training, talked with the coaches and played Bama Ball. I played Bama Ball with all the guys from Louisiana. We had the best team out there and went 10-0. It’s a fun game.”

The Geisman, La., native said he still considers Alabama and LSU his top two schools.

“I’m looking for the best fit and a place to call home, basically,” he said. “I have good relationships with all of the coaches I talk with for Alabama and LSU. I know all of the coaches very well and they tell me the truth. I want them to be truthful with me and not just tell me things I want to hear. I want to know what I’m getting myself into.”
