also have experience in the department. You never want to hear of a player getting in trouble with the law, but if you had to prefer one, open container and MIP are pretty harmless. long as they stay away from the drivers seat.

Agreed. Both arrests reported today were of alcohol variety. In our view, that's not a good thing, but it's certainly not unheard of on a college campus. Been there myself.

I have seen women in their 50's get open container in Gainesville on gameday. Not crazy college kids, middle aged moms with kids in college having some wine in a cup get open container just standing on a sidewalk adjacent to someones front yard. I'm a UF guy, and not to deflect this, but this is no big deal. why not just write a citation. either way, if UF can make it through summer with one MIP, I consider that a success.

Wondered the same thing. Figured that if police see someone notice them… and then he throws down his drink… they're probably going to wonder what was in the cup.

I’m in no way doubting that Elam was drinking but how did the cops know he was drinking alcohol, and even exactly which kind, when he tossed te cup? Is there a field test they do or did Elam just tell them?
