Linebacker Trey Johnson from Central-Gwinnett High School in Lawrenceville, Ga., has committed to Auburn.
The prospect from the 2013 class chose Auburn over offers from Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Clemson and Florida State. Georgia hasn’t offered a scholarship to Johnson.
“Georgia said that they liked him a lot, and that they would probably offer down the line,” Central Gwinnett coach Todd Wofford said. “I think Georgia wanted to see which linebacker position they wanted him for before doing anything .. I don’t know.”
Johnson knew he was more interested in Auburn after watching the Tigers win last year’s BCS National Championship.
“Obviously being the national champion, Auburn has a great football program,” Wofford said. “Trey wanted to play for a winning program.”
