OK. What does that have to do with me saying that the guy is easy to like?

You're weighing in on his record. That's not mentioned in my piece. His coaching record didn't come up. I simply said he's a darn nice guy.

John,

I don't doubt that he is a good guy. CFB could use a lot more Mark Richts. However, the ugly fact remains, he is a head coach in the SEC not auditioning to replace Mr. Rodgers. When Richt entered the SEC he was one of the top coaches. I think he no longer is top tier. He didn't change, but other schools got better. Georgia is in a fix. Do they stick with a sure thing B+ or gamble for an A. Clearly Richt was below Saban andMeyer. Meyer is now out of the picture, but the fact still remains that 4 coaches have won 5 BCS titles since UGA last won a division title. All of the coaches were hired after Mark Richt. You are either getting better or getting worse. That applies to salesman, nurses, and guys who run football websites as well as coaches. For the last 2 years Georgia has gotten worse (significantly). I frankly don't see anything to suggest that Georgia improves significantly in 2011. If UGA struggles again, McGarity has a decision to make.

B. Roberts,

Sure. And that's why Georgia fans are constantly telling me to stop saying Mark Richt is on the hot seat.

You don't have to be a Georgia fan to like Mark Richt. In fact, anyone who doesn't like the guy is showing a helluva lot more bias than I ever have. He's a good guy.

Interesting article on CBSsports.com. Comparing the USC sanctions - 30 scholarships and 2 year postseason ban, to Miami, could it be that the death penalty is actually the better option for the school? If this case is more serious then a longer postseason ban and more scholarships taken would be killing it anyway.

Also, I have heard the 2 for 1 rule, though this doesn't apply to the USC case. If it does here will we see Miami lose 144 scholars (72 players)?
