I don't think the NCAA would be looking for him to back-up his story. If he is spreading lies then they certainly wouldn't like that, but they don't have any authority to question him. I'm not real sure they would be worried about Sheridan anyway as what he says will have no effect on the investigation or any punishment. I think it would be more likely that if the NCAA was trying to discredit Sheridan that they would simply make a public statement.

The NCAA has no authority over Sheridan whatsoever. He doesn't have to talk to them if he doesn't want to. If all he had was "nonsense," he wouldn't even talk to them. Sheridan works for USA Today, not a worthless site like SportsbyBrooks, so he has a reputation to uphold. Clearly he has something.
