I've gotten this question a lot in the last couple of weeks. We've been changing our comment sections around recently so that might have had something to do with it.

But for future reference, we also reserve the right to banish anyone we find to be foul-mouthed, insulting or obnoxious (to us or to other MrSEC users). It's our site and we choose to provide comment boxes. If the people using those comment boxes aren't respectful of the other people on the site, they'll lose their privileges.

I grew up in Kentucky and have lived in North Carolina and Ohio. Fans of UK, UNC, Ohio State are all great… same as Tennessee fans. But there are a few paranoids in each group.

I just get tired of the people who read a story, dislike it, and then hurl insults. If someone wants to disagree, fine. But the insults are kind of pathetic.

1. I said it's been reported by Knoxville media members — and it has — that UT's search committee became worried about the negative backlash regarding the potential hire of Hart. (So it's not a stretch "even for me.")

2. If you still disagree, I suggest you dial up a Tennessee messageboard or listen to a Knoxville call-in show right now. I was on a Knoxville show for an hour-and-a-half on Friday. Three people called about UT's AD search. All three were strongly against the hire of Dave Hart because of his Bama ties. The calls have been similarly skewed — from what I've been told — on other Knoxville shows. (But I guess all those folks are lying, too.)

3. We write the truth around here. If you don't like it, take it up the UT fanbase that you just called "rednecks" twice.

We can either go by the reaction online and on the radio or we can do what you do — which is apparently just go by your gut feeling. Well, we'll go with the actual evidence.
