Carolina Practicing For Navy’s Option Without A Ball

The triple-option is not an attack SEC schools see very often. Facing it demands discipline. And that’s one reason South Carolina coaches have the Cocks’ defensive players practicing without a football this week.

“It was different, but it made you concentrate on your assignments,” safety DeVonte Holloman said. “You can’t follow the ball and I think it’ll pay off for us during the game.”

Navy is averaging 400 yards per game on the ground this season. It’s early, but that’s still the best mark in the country.

Longtime Carolina fans will tell you that it’s probably wise for a USC team with championship hopes to take the Midshipmen seriously. Does 1984 ring a bell?
