I agree - ECU would be a better option than Baylor. Plus moving Auburn to the East does creates a lot of scheduling problems with the UT/Bama/Auburn rivalries.

I don't think Baylor makes much sense. They are pretty much like Vandy in that they get outnumbered at their own home games. If we are THAT desperate then there are other programs that would be much better that would definitely come. You speak about non AQs, actually TCU or East Carolina make a lot more sense than Baylor. ECU has 50k people at their games and they play a whole bunch of crappy teams in CUSA so that's saying something about their popularity. And they are in NC which would help open up a new market. TCU would come also and they have much better athletics. They are going to the Big East, but they aren't there yet. They would get a lot more money in the SEC and they wouldn't have to travel nearly as far to most of their games.

But truthfully, I think we can get better programs than either of those.

Yes, getting this done rather quickly is important. If the delay is too long, A&M could find itself dragged kicking and screaming to the Pac-12 by the Texas legislature. Think about it ...

Off topic ... a candidate for the 14th team. How about Baylor? The ACC schools don't want to come. The Big East schools don't either, or they are too far away. There really are no mid-majors that make any sense. Missouri prefers either waiting on the Big 10, staying in the Big 12, and know that they could join TCU in the Big East if it comes to that. And staying at 13 schools for a 14th school that may never come is a bad idea. (For instance, getting Missouri would strengthen the Big East, making West Virginia less likely to leave.) Baylor knows that Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State really want to be in the Pac-12, and that the Pac-12 doesn't want them. So, they would go from trying to block this deal to being on board in a heartbeat. Just pop Auburn into the SEC East (they'd still get to play Alabama every year) and get this thing done!
