No SEC teams are going to be willing to give up their rivalries. Bama wont give up Auburn OR Tennessee

A&M may be willing to throw 100 years of rivalries down the toilet to join the SEC... but SEC teams wont throw away thier annual rivalries just to add A&M

re-allignment will take a long time and will be very confusing and have to account for several yearly rivalries for almost all SEC schools, but A&M wouldn't have been approved if it were going to come at the expense of the Bama / TN, Auburn / UGA, or Florida / TN games

WV as a state doesnt have a large population, but it doesn't have any other schools to compete with for viewership. This helped make them 15th in the country in merchandise sales, which I would directly tie to fan support and viewership.

viciousdawg...

As we stated, WVU is a fallback. The SEC would prefer a school with big TV market and a big population. WVU doesn't have that. So no, they don't bring more money.

And yes, academics do matter... up to a point. If the SEC is stuck on 13 and no one else wants in -- and it appears no one does -- then WVU becomes a lot more attractive.

If you think academics have nothing to do with this, name me one schools that's left a the Pac-12, ACC or Big Ten for a conference of lesser academic standing. It doesn't happen.

I like WVU from a sports/culture fit. But WVU won't help much in terms of driving TV dials.

[...] Alabama | MrSEC.com Check this out... "But who’s to say the SEC might not invite both and then stop at 15 schools? Three divisions of five teams each. The two best teams in the BCS rankings meet in Atlanta for the league title. It’s possible.
Newbie here, GRRRRREEEATT site. Very intelligent and informative.

I am an ACC guy and am happy that we aren't hearing more Vah Tek rumors. Admittedly I am a Virginia fan but they belong with us.

@tony....

I am flattered that you would mention UVA but honestly I don't want to become another Vandy. UNC IS the ACC and will never leave if the ACC is stable (which it is). Look having West Virginia hardly HURTS your conference, it's too good already. What's more it fits the criteria for expansion that was set earlier; a large state school with a passionate fanbase and wide following. WVU will have an adjustment period but so did Arky and S.Car.

Mizzou needs to stop kidding themselves and push for them KU and KSU into the Big 10. Then ND will join the Big 10. After that I don't know who you Dixie cats should get if you really don't want to poach other conferences (well the ones that matter anyway).
