Louisville’s Charlie Strong has been poormouthing his Cardinals leading into Saturday’s Governor’s Cup game with Kentucky. He even said earlier this week that he doesn’t know if his team can beat the Wildcats.
But Joker Phillips is paying his rival no mind:
“Tell Charlie I’m not going to play into his games. We both worked with Lou (Holtz). Early in the week, you’re a terrible football team. Later on in the week, you’re pretty good, you’ve got a chance. And by the end of the week, the other team doesn’t have a chance. I understand that.”
UK has won four in a row against the Cardinals. If second-year coach Joker Phillips wants to coax a few more Cat fans into his camp, he’d better hope his team can make it five in a row on Saturday.
