Another thing funny about this, I believe the USC president was the one not voting for MIssouri in the straw vote(the one not related to a rivalry game being left out if the Tigers came to the SEC). If you remember, Solomon of the BIrmingham News said there were 4 sec presidents voting no. Two of those where the UT and Bama president, because of the rivalry that would be lost. Nothing to do with Missouri as a program. It's just kind of weird to be honest with you. I guess if this guy does turn out to vote no, it doesn't mean anything. lol. Missouri would still have a 11 to 1 vote.

And what is it that you wish for the Tigers to announce? The SEC presidents have not voted to accept Missouri. The SEC has not made an offer, conditional or unconditional, to Missouri. All that Missouri can announce is their intention to leave the Big 12, which at this point would be a totally redundant, pointless, possibly counterproductive announcement to make.

West Virginia is no more "southeastern" than Illinois. Kentucky is already marginally southern, and West Virginia is north of Kentucky. They are also north of Virginia, at least 1/3 of the state is north of Washington D.C., and parts of it are even north of Pittsburgh. Morgantown is an hour from Pittsburgh, is well north of Cincinnati, and only a few miles (in a latitude sense) south of Columbus, Ohio. West Virginia became a "southern" or "southeastern" state in the minds of some fragile SEC egos right about the time that the "we prefer the Big 10, but the SEC is what's left" thing came out, and these folks are willing to ignore that A) WVU applied to the ACC at the same time that it applied to the SEC and B) WVU would choose EITHER the ACC or the Big 10 over the SEC in a heartbeat.

It's amazing that so many people wouldn't mind adding South Florida, East Carolina, Houston, UCF or stay at 13 just because of that one unfortunate comment. Never mind that Texas, Oklahoma, and the entire ACC is also avoiding the SEC like the plague.

No. It is too late to get a southeastern school instead of Texas A&M. It is also too late to get a southeastern school instead of Arkansas. It is also too late to get a southeastern school instead of LSU. It is also too late to get a southeastern school instead of Kentucky. (With A&M, LSU and Arkansas, it is blatant, as southern states WEST of the Mississippi River are in the SOUTHWEST, not the SOUTHEAST. As far as Kentucky goes, well Ohio is all that separates the Bluegrass State from CANADA.

So, is it REALLY about wanting a southeastern state, or is it about wanting ANYBODY ELSE but the school that said "the SEC is what's left" after they were unable to get into the Big 10?

What's up with Missouri not making an official announcement already? I'm not buying the argument that the Big 12 is holding them hostage. The Big 12 is all but trying to make the announcement for them by excluding them from their website – like they're trying to push them out the door.

All other teams announce they're leaving before the conference excludes them from their website.

There's been no withdrawal because the Big 12 has been holding Missouri hostage. They had been threatening Missouri with lawsuits from the schools that had to replace them on their schedule and asking for a huge exit fee. They were trying to get MU to remain another year but I wonder if the leak was a message to them from the SEC for the Big 12 to get it done and move on. They posted in one story here that One SEC member made a comment that the Big 12 wasn't the only people with lawyers going over the papers carefully.

It's funny. Pitt, Syracuse can move without legal threats. The Big 12 can poach TCU and WVU and no talk of them being sued. But let Texas A&M and Missouri try to leave the Big 12 and they get threats of lawsuits. It's unreal, the Big 12 is a joke.

Nope. Mizzou is the new Southeastern school. Aren't any others available from an AQ conference now that WV is gone to the Big 12-2. WV was never really considered a serious contender anyway. So bring on Mizzou. Great academics, solid sports program and great addition to the SEC footprint. How soon can the SEC begin to negotiate the tv contracts and to seriously start working on the SEC cable Network?

THis has to be a statement to try and help cover the SEC's little leak from last night. The A&M situation was handled much better than the MIzzou situation from start to end. THe fact that Mizzou had the leak, then the source about the BIG, and now the SEC's welcome to Mizzou statement. Some sources are saying the exit fees for A&M and MIssouri (who are both working together on this) are like 23-27 million. If you don't think the BIg 12 is enjoying that, they would love to get some extra money from the SEC. By sending this message, it looks like the SEC has nothing to do with what took place last night. I do find it interesting through the official BIG 12 press release on their site about West VIrginia today, it says the BIG 12 will have 10 schools in 2012. Not mentioned is Missouri, but WVU is. THe fun goes on! lol
