yeah but you already have SC covered–this is about money and TV deals–Clemson is a better cultural fit than MU, but this is about power and money and MU is ready to sign on the dotted line–SEC is mad at MU for supposedly preferring the Big10 to SEC, but SEC clearly prefers a few southern schools over MU but you dont hear MU complaining..(love the one your with–good tune)

MU fans want to go to the friggin SEC–not ACC! Just go to Tigerboard.com or Powermizzou.com –95% of MU fans are ready for the SEC–ACC has never even been mentioned, ever, and I follow MU avidly. It does concern me that alot of SEC fans dont think that highly of MU–yeah they're not doing that great this year in FB, but they've been pretty darn good for the past 5 yrs or so and have sent more players to NFL than OU or TX over the past 5 yrs, so we can recruit (our game-day coaching is a little suspect, though!). Were ranked #1 in the BCS rankings a few years ago, beat #1 BCS OU last year, have an excellent track record historically vs. SEC in FB and the BB program is as good as any in the SEC save for UK of course..MU brings alot to the table and I just hope some SEC fans will welcome them like they did A&M-MU had crappy leadership during the 80s and much of the 90s and didn't put enough $$ into the A.D. but that has changed and MU is back on track. Columbia MO is a pretty cool college town, too–when your there try Shakespears Pizza or Harpos downtown–

Clemson may fit the tradition of an SEC school, but no one's basing this decision on atmosphere. It's about the almighty dollar. Plus, I;d agree that there's little incentive to leave the ACC.

Disagree, clemson makes a lot of sense for the sec the bigger it gets. Clemson is 100% SEC type school, location and nature, and with expansion of some school's who aren't SEC types, missouri, texas a&M, the sec losses what makes the sec special. By adding clemson into the mix, the sec gets back its winning recipe.

Missouri fans who don't want to go to the SEC, and Kansas fans who don't want to go to the MWC or Big East likely. The ACC would totally shred their geography and hammer their non-revenue sports to add Texas, but not KU and MU.

With Missouri and Kansas in discussions with the ACC about joining that league, I can't imagine Clemson leaving to go to SEC.

Missouri and Kansas would give the ACC 2 more AAU universities, a basketball powerhouse, and 2 major media markets. Add Pitt and Syracuse to the equation and I would imagine the renegotiated television contracts will be thru the roof.

As a Clemson fan, I would love to see the move to the SEC. Clemson can compete at or above the levels of Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Miss. State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vandy. As for Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and LSU, we'd give them a good game on many occasions and beat them once in a while. Still, it would be fun to compete in the SEC venues and also add a pretty good venue of our own to the league. From all I have read, it is simply not meant to be. As long as the ACC doesn't lose VT, FSU, GT, UNC, Miami, NC State, Maryland, or Virginia I will live. I still enjoy watching the SEC and ACC on TV. And like Dabo says, "It's a great day to be a Clemson Tiger".

I think that we all can understand Clemson's response. Nothing else to discuss about their entry to the SEC. SEC says they will wait until next year to discuss any further additions. Let's talk about SEC champion for 2011.

It is true that going after Clemson – especially at this stage – makes no sense for the SEC. But the flip side of the coin is this: what are the business reasons for Clemson – or any other ACC school for that matter – to leave a stable, well run league where they are making tons of money for the SEC or anyplace else? All the expansion movement has been away from the basket-case conferences (the Big East and Big 12) towards the successful ones (Pac-10, Big 10, ACC and SEC). There has been no movement from one stable, successful conference to another. It is necessary and appropriate to mock the ACC's modest results on the gridiron, but still: everybody in that league gets along and makes a ton of money. Telling an FSU, Clemson, Virginia Tech "come join the league that's won the last 5 BCS titles and is gearing up for more" is an excellent football fan argument, but I don't know about the business angle of it, especially since the common thinking is that an ACC program would have to ramp up its athletics budget in order to be able to compete in the SEC (an argument that Bobby Bowden and the FSU people were making way back in the early 90s).
